State of FINCOM – February 2012

I have nothing new to report in FINCOM. This will be a short report due to the fact that I am having trouble accessing the accounts to report on this month again. Linda, Tammy, and I are working on the problem and should have the things back up and running next month!!

We are still in the process of resupplying the QM… I know that I have been saying that for a few months now and I apologize for the slow-going nature that this is presenting. We hope to get any backorders out soon!!

Until my next report, thank you for your attention!!

Greetings Marines,
Love was in the air several weeks back… that was until I trained my Type 3 Phaser Rifle on Cupid and winged the sucker. Now things are finally getting back to normal here at the Datawarfare Center.

Let’s talk about what going on shall we.
Pingdom:
The Pingdom report for December showed us with 3 outages and an uptime of 99.76%. The average response time was 407 ms. These results are better than last month where are response time was higher.
Attention on Deck Extra:
Tom is still prepping his next issue, so if you would like to contribute to the next issue you can reach Tom as emttc911@yahoo.com or you can still send me submissions at michaelj.timko@gmail.com and I will just forward them to Tom.
Staffing:
Additional staffing plans are still in progress and have taken a back seat to other projects. One position that we are definitely seeking is a CGI/PHP Programmer role. If you have these skills or know someone who does, then we need to talk.
Communication Achievement Award:
The COINFOCOM awards the Communications Achievement Award. Have you done or do you know somebody who has done something worthy of this award?
Submissions can be made for designing a website or newsletter, writing a story or song, composing music, making a video. The sky is really the limit.
Some might say my work wasn’t good enough or significant enough. To that, I say, you won’t know until it gets submited.
Recent Events
As you all know from my previous email, the SFMCA site was hacked. In record time, Laura Victor @ CompOps came through for us (do I see another Naval Unit Citation in her future… hint, hint). I will not go into specifics now, but I can say that the Commandant will be addressing us shortly about the issue.
Well, thats all I got for this month.
Semper Fi.

Marines,

Things are a little crazy at the moment at TRACOM HQ so I’ll be keeping this very very short.

As I announced a few minutes ago, Tiny Hollifield is in the hospital and in need of all the prayers/good wishes/etc. you can send his way. I’ll be covering his duties until his return.

Shane has resolved his computer issues and is working the ADC backlog as quickly as possible. Overdue e-certs should be forthcoming Corps-wide.

The application period for the Infantry Director post is still open for a few more days. Anyone who has not yet applied for the post but is interested should make application as soon as possible.

The Numbers:

January saw 204 grades issued to 57 students.
The First half of February (1-15) saw 110 grades issued to 30 students.

Final Notes:
It is again becoming a problem that Course Requests are being directed to the wrong people. This is happening because the Request Form is not being filled out correctly. In order for your request to be processed in the most timely fashion possible, students MUST make sure that on the first drop-down menu, you select the correct school. Please be careful when filling out this form.

Thanks for your time.

Mike
