State of TRACOM, October 2010
Thursday, 28 October 2010 15:00
Greetings to all Marines and students of the SFMCA

Unlike INFOCOM, we have no gremlins at TRACOM that I can lay any excuse to for a late report - but I will blame everyone else that I can starting with the DCOTRACOM for keeping me from my administrative duties with other distractions of late! But it is all to the good and the past few weeks have been spent working through as many issues, plans and projects we have been able to in precipitation of the outcomes of the election and possibility of a new GS.

New Courses
There have been no releases of new material this period but there are still several exams that are being worked through the Beta test stage. Once this has been completed, we would hope to have some published first week of  November and the balance first week of December.  There are still some revisions pending to a few manuals that while they may not get published prior to this year's end, it is hoped they will be soon after. These revisions will also enable another flurry of new coursework and exams for a few schools and branches.

E-Certs and Awards Department
The team over in the ADC department lead by Scott Anderson, have been diligently distributing certifications and qualifications and it is sincerely hoped that there have been no issues from students receiving late certifications.  While we are aware that there is a large backlog of requests either in place currently or pending to the future, please be patient with the ADC team as they endeavor to fulfill requests for any missing certificates. This is big job that goes back over some time and will not be easily accomplished. Nevertheless, Marines should be  comfortable with the premise that Scott and Jenn in ADC will be doing everything possible to expedite your requests as quickly as they can

Xenostudies
Xeno Schools have recently had an influx of new directors in several areas. While these new directors are settling in, some have expressed their desire to review and renew as much of the courses on offer as they can - most especially where it is seen that there is little difference between that offered by SFMCA and the SFA.  This too is a lot harder than it sounds as the ability to introduce a lot more of the 'military aspects' of the various races (as is the premise suggested by COTRACOM and others) is severely limited by what such resource is available. It is suggested that next year, Xeno directors will take up this challenge and continue to  create different course material as a consequence,  I am certain that any of the Xeno directors will gladly look to any valuable material offered up in this regard and so those students looking to graduate any of these Schools with -30 level level exams may wish to discuss such possible material and/or ideas with the appropriate director.

New Material
As we always say, we are keen to look at any new material that members may wish to submit - and this becomes especially true when it comes to -30 level submissions. While not all branches/schools directors are not keen on simply receiving receiving requests for "new exams" (although the obverse is also true in many cases) there is always opportunity for students to make suggestion of additional resource material that can be used to further expand the branch/school. This material should always be "militarily focused' of course as this is the core reason for our Academy - but you should also be reminded that the SFMC not being an ST canon element merely means the whole universe is our layground.  We can resource all sorts of material that can be added to base SFMC structure that as long as it further assists implanting the SFMC into the Star Trek universe - even by connotation only - then we sure are going to be interested to hear from. Go crazy - there is nothing stopping you from looking/asking/building.

College Graduations
It is great to see more and more of our students graduating from the various SFMCA Colleges - and September was no exception. So we offer our congratulations to the following fine Marines - Jeremy De Spain; Josiah Smiddy & Adam W Wenclewicz, who have all graduated from the SFMC War College. If you wish to know more of the various College graduation criteria, visit the respective Colleges detailing found on the SFMCAwebsite (  http://sfmca.sfi-sfmc.org) or simply drop myself or the DCOTRACOM a line and we can give you the required head's up.

Short, brief and less wordy than usual, but I hope I have provided a reasonable view as to what is happening here at TRACOM and the SFMCA. As per always we are all available to answer any questions, comments, criticisms, ideas or to simply respond to a "G'day , how you doing?" mail. Feel free to contact any of the TRACOM staff on any matter dealing with our Academy. We are here to serve.  See you all on campus.
